Finding My Social Purpose

I believe everybody and every business should have some social purpose/responsibility, we can’t solve every issue on our own, but if we all do nothing, nothing will change, doing little things together can start, change.

I have always been one of those people who shares, more than they have, that can be money, time, ideas, dreams and most of the time that’s enough for me. Watching an idea turn into a business, the business grows, becomes successful, seeing one of my many ideas come to life, take shape and being happy for them. !f it wasn’t for them I probably wouldn’t of had the chance to see that happen. I’m the same in friendship, sometimes I wish I wasn’t like that, and I have tried not sharing so much. But, it’s just not in me.

Now I’m seeing one of my ideas through, it's time to have faith in myself, that others seem to have had in me. I have been thinking about this for just over a year and have had offers of partnerships. I just feel it's a journey I need to take. It's a business that suites who I am. I wasn't going to share this yet but thought people my want to follow and support this new adventure.

Introducing Carboon

Carboon is a carbon neutral social enterprise that will plant, nurture, grow one bamboo plant from every £1 raised through donations, carbon off-setting or buying bamboo products through my shop.

Together we are going to create amazing spaces with bamboo throughout the UK, where people can come and relax, a garden of zen, a place that makes you feel closer to nature, a holiday feeling without being away, promoting a healthy body and mind whilst looking after the environment.

"Planting one small seed at a time, giant canes will grow"

Activities of our everyday life. driving a car, Heating our home, having a hot shower, washing and buying our clothes. Produces #carbon (CO2) emissions. CO2 is a major influence on global warming and climate change, small changes in our buying habits together can make big changes, swapping out things we use everyday with bamboo alternatives can help.

Without jeopardising UK nature

Being aware that bamboo is not native to the UK, and it being a intrusive plant, our aim is to transform grassland that was once used for cattle or feed into bamboo gardens incorporating wild flowers and grasses, so butterfly's and other insects and wildlife to thrive.

"We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change, and the last generation that can do anything about it."

Become a friend of #CARBOON and follow the adventure, maybe join in yourself

So whats a Social Enterprise

Social enterprises seek to maximize profits while maximizing benefits to society and the environment, and the profits are principally used to fund social programs. A social enterprise is a business with social objectives. Maximizing profits is not the primary goal of a social enterprise as is with a traditional business. So, basically it's the middle ground between a charity and a business, so as with us it guarantees at least 50% of our profits go into our social purpose.
